Question:

Which mails are the target for Email Archive (Google Workspace)?

Answer:

Basically, all the incoming / outgoing mails are the targets.

Please note that whether to target or not to depends on the Google Workspace settings for incoming / outgoing mails.

1. Inbound/outbound routing configuration (*MX record designates Google Workspace.)

Target

 - Internal corporate network -> Internal corporate network Outgoing mail
 - Internal corporate network -> External network Outgoing mail
 - External network -> Internal corporate network Incoming mail
 - Internal corporate network -> Mailing list Before the deployment
 - External -> Mailing list After the deployment (Internal address needs to be included)
 - Automatic notification mail via Google Workspace (such as calendar notifications)
 - The Google Workspace decided spam mail /junk mail /unwanted mail (Google Workspace specifies whether it should get archived or not)
 - Automatically transferred mail (excluding the case when the transference settings is set by the administrator)

Exceptional cases

- Internal -> Internal corporate network Incoming mail (Since it gets archived through the transmission pathway)
- Internal corporate network -> Mailing list After the deployment
- External network -> Mailing list Before the deployment
- The Google Workspace decided spam mail / junk mail / unwanted mail (Google Workspace specifies whether it should get archived or not)

- Internal corporate network -> External network Outgoing mail
- External -> Internal corporate network Incoming mail
- Internal corporate network -> Mailing list Before the deployment
- External network -> Mailing list Before the deployment
- Google Workspace decided spam mail
- Google Workspace rejected incoming mail (user unknown, etc.)
- Automatically transferred mail (excluding the case when the transference settings is set by the administrator)

Exceptional cases

- Internal corporate network -> Internal corporate network Incoming mail (since it gets archived through the transmission pathway)
- Internal corporate network -> Mailing list After the deployment
- External network -> Mailing list After the deployment
- Automatic notification mail via Google Workspace (such as calendar notifications)
- The incoming mail rejected by the spam check on HENNGE inbound server

NOTE: It is probable that it may change according to the Google Workspace specification modification.

Regarding the other mails, it depends on Google Workspace specification / settings.
