What is HENNGE Access Control?

What is HENNGE Access Control and why do we need it?

HENNGE Access Control is one of the our services to provide a comprehensive and secured solution for our users to perform Single Sign-on, user account management, password policy settings, access policy settings, and access activities monitoring, all in one admin console interface.

It is a comprehensive and easy-to-use security tool that manages the user accounts of your organisation with enhanced security features that your current cloud environment is lacking. The security features that Access Control provides are essential if you are looking to have a fully secured system to authenticate and authorise the end users of your organisation. These features are:

1) Single Sign-on

- allow end users to perform user-friendly login process with a single account to all our services as well as the cloud productivity suite (i.e : Office 365, Google Apps for Work, Salesforce or any other service that uses SAML for authentication and authorisation). Its purpose is to ease the login process by eliminating the need to perform login individually for each service.

  • Boosts Productivity - By removing the need to remember and manage a list of passwords, the login process becomes so much easier and requires much shorter time.

  • Improves Security and Compliance Capabilities - While the end users in your cloud environment only need to have one single password for all the services, it is much easier for the end users to have a much stronger password. A stronger password can effectively improve the security of the system.

  • Improves User Experience - With the ability to automatically log in any time when the user log on to the service website, SSO is able to improve user experience by eliminating the need to log in each time individually.

2) User Management

- allow system administrator to perform user management such as setting password policy and assigning access policy group.

  • Setting Password PolicyWith a password policy that requires every single user account to have a strong password will drastically reduce the risks of security breach and improve the overall security of your cloud environment. An example of a password policy is to change their password over a certain period of time (i.e. Once a month), ensuring every password consists of at least a letter each for both uppercase and lowercase, at least one number and at least one symbol.

  • Assigning Access Policy Groups - Access Policy Groups are to be assigned to end users and the end users will comply to the policies that are defined. These policies permit or restrict end users under certain conditions to gain access to the services in your cloud environment.

3) Access Policy Groups

- allow or restrict end users under certain conditions to log in to the services to ensure that only authorised end users are able to access to the cloud services.

  • Conditions of End Users to Allow Access - The user conditions that are regarded are the network the user is connected to, whether or not the user possessed the Entrance Pass, whether or not the user is given privileged access, and more. The system admin can allow or restrict access based on these conditions by configuring the rules within a policy. For example, the policy can be defined to restrict end users from outside of the corporate network to log in to the services.

  • Operations to Give Permissions to End Users - Based on the policy configured by the system admin, if the end users meet the requirement of the condition, they are able to gain access, log in without being required One-Time Password, gain access to certain settings, gain access to use certain applications and more.

  • Entrance Pass is a piece of data that will be given to a user after a user has successfully logged in to the services. Depending on how the access policy is defined, the end users with Entrance Pass may be able to gain access to the services even if they are outside of the allowed network.

4) Access Logs

- allow system admin to monitor and trace the details of the access activities of every user in the system.

  • System Access Log - Every login performed by the end users is recorded into the log. System admin is able to search and check the access activities of all end users in the log within a certain period of time or a specific day. The details of the access activities are the access date, time, IP address, and device used.
