HDE Secure Browser : PC App (PC QR Code Scanner)

This article consists of the instructions on how to correctly setup HDE Secure Browser on your PC. This article is specifically written for users who has access to a browser that is capable of installing a PC web application to read QR Code.

The guide contains six parts:
1) Setup Prerequisites
2) Obtaining Device Authentication Code
3) Installing HDE Secure Browser on Your PC
4) Authenticating HDE Secure Browser on Your PC
5) Accepting Device Approval Request (For Admin)
6) Setting the HDE Secure Browser PIN 

1) Setup Prerequisites

(i) Install an updated version of Google Chrome web browser.

(ii) Use the recommended PC web application to read QR Code is: ZXing Decoder Online

2) Obtaining Device Authentication Code 

Step 1 - Log in to your Access Control User Console



Step 2 - In the Access Control User Console, Click on the "HDE Secure Browser setting". 


Step 3 - Click on "New device authentication".


Step 4 - You will be able to see the QR Code for device authentication for your HDE Secure Browser as shown as below.


Step 5 - Please log on to https://zxing.org/w/decode.jspx, click on "Choose File" and upload the Saved Image in the previous step. Click "Submit".



Step 6 - Once the QR Code has been decoded, copy the Raw Text.



Step 7 - Once you have obtain the Raw Text, keep in mind that it will be used in the Step 2 of "4) Authenticating HDE Secure Browser on Your PC".

3) Installing HDE Secure Browser on Your PC

Step 1 - Download the HDE Secure Browser from the HDE Office Site.



Step 2 - On your client, install the ".exe" or ".dmg" file and execute and install them as the following screen shot shows.



4) Authenticating HDE Secure Browser on Your PC

Step 1 - The installed application will automatically add a Desktop Icon that allows users to open up the「HDE Secure Browser」 Application.


Step 2 - When you first open the app, you will be required to input the "device authentication" code. Please paste the long string of codes that you have obtain in previous stage of this setup and click "Submit".


Step 3 - After successfully submitted the device authentication code, the administrator of your organisation shall approve the permission for your device to access via Access Control Admin Console. After your device is being approved, you will need to restart your HDE Secure Browser app to be able to log in to the cloud services.


5) Accepting Device Approval Request (For Admin)

Step 1 - Log in to your Access Control Admin Console


Step 2 - First, in the Secure Browser settings, click on "Authentications". Then, find the device that you want to approve and click on "Accept".


Step 3 - Confirm the approval process by clicking "Accept".


6) Setting the HDE Secure Browser PIN 

Step 1 - Relaunch the HDE Secure Browser app and you will be able to input your login details.


Step 2 - After logging in, you will be prompt to set up the PIN that will be required every time you relaunch the app.


Step 3 - In the "Settings" interface, click on the "Set" icon.


Step 4 - Input your desired PIN.  


After the PIN has been configured, the setup for HDE Secure Browser for PC is now entirely completed.
