This article introduces update information for File DLP.
File Location Filter Feature
We are launching the "File Location Filter" feature, which allows you to set policies for specific Google Shared Drives or SharePoint sites in the file list, Risk Detection Policies, and Auto Remediation Policies.
This feature replaces the existing "File Path Filter" feature. Accordingly, the current "File Path Filter" feature is scheduled to be discontinued at the end of August 2026.
If you are currently using the "File Path Filter" feature, we kindly ask you to migrate to the new feature (reset your policies).
Purpose of the Renewal
Previously, we provided the "File Path Filter" feature, but due to system architecture limitations, it was difficult to instantly synchronize the paths of all files in the database when upper-level folder names were changed or moved on the cloud storage side, which could cause policies to not function as intended.
With the new "File Location Filter" feature, control is based on the unique ID of the Google Shared Drive or SharePoint site, rather than the "string" of the path. As a result, even if the shared drive name or site name is changed in your environment, administrators can maintain consistent and secure security policies without needing to update settings in File DLP.
Notes Regarding This Update
The following are not supported by this feature.
- Microsoft 365 OneDrive *Please use the "Owner Filter" feature.
- Microsoft 365 subsites
- Google My Drive *Please use the "Owner Filter" feature.
- Box folders
Request to Customers (Migration Procedure)
If you are currently specifying "File Path Filter" as a condition in your Risk Detection Policies or Auto Remediation Policies, please open the policy settings screen and change the settings to use the newly added "File Location Filter" by the scheduled end date (end of August).
*If you have been using the existing path filter to specify deep folder hierarchies, please note that the new filter will consolidate settings at the "Google Shared Drive / SharePoint site level," which may require you to review your operations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your account representative or our support desk.
