Question
Are all files virus scanned in HENNGE Secure Transfer?
Answer
There are the following limitations on virus scanning.
Details are described below.
- Limitations by file size
Files exceeding 500MB are not checked. - Files with complex file structures
- Encrypted files
About files with complex file structures
Scanning is performed up to the range that can be analyzed, and a virus check is conducted.
A complex file structure refers to cases where the target ZIP file becomes a multi-layered folder structure when expanded.
Please note that while the virus check engine automatically updates the pattern files daily, there is no guarantee of detecting unknown viruses in real-time.
Please be aware of the above points, and if the transfer of large files or special file formats is expected, please use antivirus software on the client terminal side as well, and confirm the safety before opening the files.
About encrypted files
Encrypted files for which the scan process is skipped include ZIP, 7ZIP, RAR, PDF and MS Office files. The verified MS Office file extensions are as follows.
.docx/.doc/.dotx/.dotm/.docm/.xlsx/.xls/.xltx/.xlsm/.xltm/.pptx/.potx/.ppsx/.xlsb/.xlt/.ppsm/.potm/.pptm/.dot
If a "password to open" is set for the file, scanning will not be performed and "Scan Skipped" will be displayed.
※Files with a "password to modify" are subject to scanning.
There are also encrypted files where only part of the file is scanned.
Encrypted files where only the analyzable part is scanned
Files protected with a password in some legacy PowerPoint extensions (.ppt/.pps/.pot) etc do not have the encrypted parts scanned, but only the analyzable parts of the file, such as headers, are scanned. As a result of this process, if no virus is detected within the analyzable range, "No Threats Found" is displayed.
