An error has occurred from user synchronization

I'm trying to synchronize the accounts between Active Directory and HDE Access Control, but I've received an error. 

And I'm wondering if the reason is because the first name and last name (givenName/given_name) of user attributes are left blank?

Yes, your understanding is correct.

The first name and last name fields must contain more than 1 character for the account synchronization to run properly.
