Detailed Procedure Explanation
Procedure
1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with your Microsoft 365 administrator account.
2. Click on the navigation menu.
3. Click [Show all].
4. Click [Settings] from the displayed menu to open the [Settings] menu.

7. Click [Modern authentication] in the service menu.
8. Check the status of the [Turn on modern authentication for Outlook 2013 for Windows and later (recommended)] checkbox, and turn it ON if necessary.
*Note that changing the checkbox from OFF to ON will change the authentication behavior of Outlook 2016 and later, so be cautious. (Outlook 2013 depends on the registry state.)
The status of the [Turn on modern authentication for Outlook 2013 for Windows and later (recommended)] checkbox is as follows.
- Checkbox is OFF: Modern Authentication (Advanced Authentication) is not enabled, and basic authentication is used.
- Checkbox is ON: Modern Authentication (Advanced Authentication) is enabled, and Modern Authentication is used.
Changing the checkbox will enable or disable Modern Authentication (Advanced Authentication) for the entire tenant, affecting the authentication behavior of Outlook 2016 and later (and Outlook 2013 client depending on the registry state).
Please proceed with caution as it will change the Outlook authentication screen and authentication retention concept.
