Question
With the release of the new login screen, we are considering migrating. Will there be any changes to how users log in after the migration?
Answer
On the new Access Control login screen, instead of the previous Username, users will now be required to enter their Access Control Login ID (formerly known as User Principal Name or Email Address).
If you fall under either Pattern 1 or 2 described below, the value you enter at login will change on the new login screen.
This is an important change to ensure a smooth migration to the new login screen, so please make sure to review it.
Target
- Customers who currently enter a value that is not in email address format when logging in
Details
There are two main patterns for customers whose login experience will change:
Pattern 1: When the username is the local part of the email address (the part before the @ symbol)
This applies to customers who use the local part of the email address (the value before the "@" symbol) as their Login ID.
- Old login screen: Users log in by entering the value to the left of the "@" in the Username field.
- New login screen: Users must enter the value in email address format, including the domain name (the part after the "@"), without omitting the domain.
Example: The part before the "@" is an employee number (12345)
Example: The part before the "@" is the user's given name and surname (test)
Change in value entered at login (Left: Current login screen, Right: New login screen)
Pattern 2: When the username is set to a value unrelated to the email address (such as an employee number)
This applies to customers who use a value unrelated to the email address (such as an employee number) as their Login ID.
- Old login screen: Users log in by entering their employee number (e.g., 12345) in the Username field.
- New login screen: Users must enter their Login ID (a value in email address format).
