[Email Archive Modern] Frequently Asked Questions About Migrating to the Modern Version

You can use it until September 30, 2026.
Even after completing the initial setup of the Modern Edition, you can use both the Classic Edition and the Modern Edition in parallel until September 30, 2026.
[Important] End of Service Notice for HENNGE Email Archive Classic Edition on September 30, 2026

From October 1, 2026 onward, you will no longer be able to access the Classic Edition （https://console.hdems.com/）.
After the Classic Edition service ends, you will not be able to view or migrate the Classic Edition's configuration data （such as User Settings and Search Policy Settings）.
If the initial administrator setup for the Modern Edition has not been completed by the time the Classic Edition service ends, HENNGE will need to perform the initial administrator setup before you can start using the Modern Edition.
Since this may take some time before you can start using the service, please begin the migration to the Modern Edition as early as possible.

No, starting to use the Modern Edition has no effect whatsoever on the Classic Edition's data or settings.
Even after you start using the Modern Edition, you can continue to use the Classic Edition until September 30, 2026.

Please use the bulk migration tool for Users and Search Policy from the Classic Edition.

To make Email Archive more convenient to use, we offer the Modern Edition as a major renewal version. The Modern Edition improves the searchability of archived emails and the usability of each setting, and supports Microsoft / Google Workspace OIDC authentication methods. It also includes new features available only in the Modern Edition, such as 「Bulk Email Export」.

There are minor differences in operation methods compared to the Classic Edition. Please refer to the articles below for details.

[Email Archive Modern] Update Details

The Modern Edition uses OIDC authentication, so the Login account must be the Address of an account belonging to an IdP （Google/Microsoft tenant）.

The initial administrator from the Classic Edition is not required.

The Modern Edition uses Microsoft / Google Workspace OIDC authentication, so you can use Single Sign-On with the account you normally use.
You may safely Delete the Classic Edition initial administrator created by the Users and Search Policy Settings migration feature.

The 「Allowed Source IP for Connection」（permitted access） is automatically carried over to the Modern Edition.
If you want to migrate the 「User Settings」 and 「Search Policy Settings」 to the Modern Edition, please use the bulk migration feature.

The migration from the Classic Edition to the Modern Edition only involves changes to the management console. Please rest assured that stored emails will not be affected.

The Operation Logs for the Classic Edition and the Modern Edition are stored as separate logs in the system.
However, the CSV file exported from the Modern Edition screen includes the Classic Edition logs as well, allowing you to check them together.
The Classic Edition logs that can be referenced from the Modern Edition are scheduled to be bulk deleted in or after October 2036.
If needed, please Save the downloaded CSV file as a backup.

In the Classic Edition, you could choose from three Download formats for Archiving data: 「mbox」, 「Outlook PST」, and 「zip（eml format）」. However, the Modern Edition only offers 「zip（eml format）」.
The 「mbox」 and 「Outlook PST」 formats combine multiple emails into a single file, which caused issues in the Classic Edition where file generation could fail or system load could be affected when the data Size became too large.
Considering that Microsoft's New Outlook now supports importing multiple eml format files, we have decided to Support only the eml format in the Modern Edition in order to provide a stable service in the future.

Please note that while the Classic Edition did not have a log retention Period, the Modern Edition sets it to 「up to 10 years」.
