[Email Archive Modern] Frequently Asked Questions About Migrating to the Modern Version

You can use it until September 30, 2026.
Even after completing the initial setup for the Modern edition, you can use both the Classic edition and the Modern edition in parallel until September 30, 2026.

You will no longer be able to access the Classic edition （https://console.hdems.com/） from October 1, 2026.
After the Classic edition is discontinued, you will no longer be able to view or migrate the Classic edition configuration data (User Settings, Search Policy Settings, etc.).
If the initial administrator setup for the Modern edition has not been completed by the time the Classic edition is discontinued, initial administrator setup by HENNGE will be required before you can begin using the Modern edition.
Please begin the migration process to the Modern edition as early as possible, as it may take some time before you can start using the service.

No. Beginning to use the Modern edition will have no Effect on the data or Settings of the Classic edition.
After beginning to use the Modern edition, you can continue to use the Classic edition until September 30, 2026.

Migration is not available because the Classic edition has already been discontinued. Please configure the users in the Modern edition.

The Modern edition is provided as a major update to make Email Archive more convenient to use. The Modern edition improves the searchability of archived emails and the usability of each setting, and supports the Microsoft / Google Workspace OIDC authentication method. It also includes new features available only in the Modern edition, such as the “Bulk Email Export” feature.

[Email Archive Modern] Update Details

The Modern edition uses OIDC authentication, and the Login account requires the Address of an account that belongs to the IdP （Google/Microsoft tenant）.

The initial administrator for the Classic edition is not required.

Because the Modern edition uses Microsoft / Google Workspace OIDC authentication, you can use Single Sign-On with the account you normally use.
You may Delete the initial administrator for the Classic edition that was created using the User Settings and Search Policy Settings migration feature.

“Allowed Source IP Addresses” (permitted access) are automatically carried over to the Modern edition.
Migration of “User Settings” and “Search Policy Settings” is not available because the Classic edition has already been discontinued. Please configure them again in the Modern edition.

※ The Modern edition and Classic edition provide services using a shared data storage area. Therefore, migration will not affect stored emails.

Migration from the Classic edition to the Modern edition involves only a change to the management console. Please rest assured that stored emails will not be affected.

Operation Logs for the Classic edition and Modern edition are stored as separate logs in the system.
However, CSV files exported from the Modern edition screen also include logs from the Classic edition, allowing you to review them together.
Classic edition logs that can be viewed from the Modern edition are scheduled to be deleted in bulk from October 2036 onward.
If necessary, please store the downloaded CSV files as backups.

In the Classic edition, you could select from three download formats for archived data: “mbox,” “Outlook PST,” and “zip（eml format）.” In the Modern edition, only “zip（eml format）” and mbox format (Bulk Email Export only) are available.
Due to the structure of the “Outlook PST” format, which combines multiple emails into a single file, the Classic edition encountered issues such as file generation failures when the data Size increased and Effects on system load.
Taking into account that Microsoft’s New Outlook now supports importing multiple eml-format files, the Modern edition supports only the above two formats to provide stable service in the future.

Please note that the Classic edition did not have a log retention Period, while the Modern edition has a maximum retention Period of 10 years.
